“The Greatest Sinulog” is what everyone has been hoping for with the large number of delegations and infrastructures all poised towards creating the return of the Sinulog celebration since its suspension due to COVID -19.
However, with the unreliable planning and lack of support, Cebuanos struggle with their hearts and souls to brave the storm figuratively and literally due to the change in venue of the celebration, now that the traditional event will be held at South Road Properties (SRP).
As the event draws near, only days away, mud pits and quarry-like environments greet us. The concrete is barely hardening and infrastructures are hardly visible, lacking to a tee.
Mayor Mike Rama’s unwillingness to listen to change the venue back to Abellana Sports Complex draws more criticism than ever, now that Governor Gwen Garcia is threatening to pull-out contigents from Cebu provinces and Talisay Mayor Samsam Gullas airing the frustations of Talisay City’s contingents regarding the new venue. It seems like the conflict about this year’s Sinulog venue will tarnish the public officials’ mantra of “One Cebu Island”.
